A scene from my imagination of two faithful women who followed those carrying Christ’s body from the cross, doing what they could, in the little time they had before his tomb was sealed, to prepare his body for burial.
Foot washing was a common courtesy to honored guests, and Jesus likely had His feet washed by servants several times. I was interested, however, in examining the role that women, some of His most ardent followers, might have had in this act of service toward their savior. These women, as I imagine them, were the only ones we know of, besides the repentant woman in Luke 7:36-50 (see a touching commentary here), who washed His feet.
