Christ loves everyone, but the bond between our Savior and young children is especially strong.
In their innocence and purity, once introduced to Him, they love Him without reservation, with all their heart, might, mind and soul. And I can imagine them loving Him impulsively, without the second thoughts or reservations adults can pile on. No wonder He commanded little children to come unto him, and surrounded them with celebratory celestial fire in the New World.
Their love for Him is the closest in this life to the love He has for His Father.
