This work, also called Hear Him, gives the sense of Jesus and Earth being set apart from the rest of the universe. The background piece’s swirling star field emphasizes the raised area of significance, welcoming the viewer forward, forming an invitation from Him who is the beginning and end of our experience, Alpha and Omega, our Savior Jesus Christ. His pierced hands remind us of His Atonement, while the crown of thorns reminds us that He descended below all things for us, thus becoming a symbol of His power.
Construction
The completed work consists of two oil paintings sandwiched together, the top canvas being 24×36″(61x92cm), the bottom measuring 36×48″ (92x122cm). Eight 3/4″ (2cm) spacers create a 1/2″ (1.27cm) air gap between the two surfaces, secured by wood screws.
